Pumpkins & Butterflies: A Very Special 1st Birthday Party

 Guess who just turned one?!

I'll give you a hint...she's adorably tiny, has great big, blue eyes and just happens to pull off pink like it's nobody's business!

That's right, my baby girl Chloe turned one on October 22nd, and, man-oh-man, was it the best excuse I've had in years to throw a fabulous party.

I've said it before, and I think it's worth repeating that each and every day that I wake up, I am just as excited about this beautiful, little lady as much as I was the day she was born.  Hubby agrees.

We love her with a fierceness that leaves a lump in our throats and a swelling in our hearts.  Naturally, this fact afforded me the opportunity to splurge a little and pull together some creative projects that were both fun and pretty, just like my sweet girl.

Of course, she won't remember this day, but I hope she'll look back on the pictures and know just how much fun we had celebrating this wonderful milestone of hers.

AND, I would like to extend a huge thank you to my sister-in-law Jenna for snapping all of the lovely photos you see here.  It's hard hosting a party while trying to snap pics, and I am so thankful she lent her mad camera skills to our special occasion.

I designed everything you see here from the cake topper to the cupcake toppers to the place cards (yes, I cut those little details out by hand.  Uff!) to the overall design.  It was a labor of love with a touch of insanity, but, what the heck, I had a blast doing it.

Check it out...

The funny thing about this poem is that I came up with it months ago when I was brainstorming party themes.  I almost put it on the invites, then I scrapped it, and then I decided to add it back in via the new chalkboard.  I'm glad I did. :)

Handmade invites I created for the big day...

Okay, so, I absolutely L.O.V.E. this sign.  My dad cut it out, and my talented mom hand painted it.  So perfect!

Below, I simply stenciled letters on a homemade banner that I created.  I also made a similar banner way back {here}.  It's super easy and has the desired effect.

Happy Birthday, baby girl!  Mommy and Daddy love you so much!

Lastly, here are a few more pics that I took with Instagram...

Thanks so much for stopping, gang.

Have a blessed weekend!

    1. It really is hard to believe, Clare! It's great to hear from you. :) Thanks for stopping by and for following me on instagram and twitter!

  2. She is just sooooooo cute! What a beautiful set up for the party. I especially love the picture of Chloe digging in to her cake. I have pictures of my now 12 year old digging into her elmo cake on her first birthday. It is something you will always remember. Nice to see you all looking so happy!

    1. Thanks, Maura! I'm telling you, it was torture for this momma to watch her smear frosting all over the place, but she had so much fun doing it. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  3. Beautiful job Nikki. You are so talented What a lucky little girl Chloe is to have such a sweet mom. You must have got that creative talent from your mom.

Your comments make me oh-so-happy!
