Okay, gang, so...I have oak cabinets in my kitchen...sigh...so 90's, right?  Well, my house was built in 2001, so I must have gotten stuck in the tailwind of said oak cabinet decade.  No worries, though, if you've found yourself in my same dilemma.  I'm sure they'll be back in style in a decade or two.  Anyhoo, although they are beautiful cabinets in fabulous shape (I'm just counting my blessings for that alone), I would love to dress them up a little...you know, make them pop, and I think a coat of white paint would be just what the doctor ordered.   What do you think?

One Last Look at Fall

With Halloween just a few days away and winter quickly approaching, I'm still clinging to the beauty that is all things fall.  Don't get me wrong, I love to watch the snow falling on a cool winter night and crank up our fireplace and just to curl up in my oversized chair with my husband and our little dogs.  BUT, if even for a few more days or weeks, I will continue to embrace my favorite season...Fall.  I came across these images the other day at Country Living, and I thought the fall party decor was so charming and fun that I had to share them with you all here.  Go grab a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy!

Hello Button Divas!

Clearly, I have buttons on the brain, and the best part about this post is that I wasn't even looking for buttons.  The buttons came to me!  I was just minding my own business navigating my way through the latest and greatest finds over at Esty, and BAM!  There they were.  How nice is that? 

Rightly so, you must check out these darling pinback buttons from the Button Divas...

I can envision these stylish buttons being used for a variety of purposes from scarf tie backs to party and decor embellishments. Cool beans, huh?

Placecard of the Week: Button Love

This week's Placecard of the Week I created in honor of my love for buttons.  Buttons are such a fun (ehem, cheap) way to embellish everything from clothes to cards to hair pieces to furniture and so on.  In this case, I think it makes the perfect embellishment to any placecard.  When I think buttons, I immediately think vintage, which is more of the angle I took in creating the placecard above, but they can easily make a great addition to any themed event from contemporary to traditional.  What creative projects have you made lately with buttons?

Purple & Gold...Minnesota Style

Okay, so just yesterday, I decided to brainstorm a whole slew (a far under-used term, by the way) of different color combinations, themes, and whatever else I could think of and draw a new one each week starting this week in order to create a different inspiration board based on that theme.  "Why?" you ask.  Everyone is already doing that.  "Why not?"  I say.  No really, I am doing this purely for kicks and, of course, to see what kind of design goodies I can dig up for my fellow bloggers.  Cool?  Cool. 

That being said, since it is football season and all, and being that I am a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings, this week's inspiration board is based on a Vikings themed party.  For those of you looking for lovely wedding ideas, I've included some elegant goodies in there, too.

Paper Meets Flowers

There are two things that I definitely love when it comes to decor: 1. Pretty Paper, and 2. It's All In The Details

A Lovely Fall Table Setting

This post is a sort of Part II to yesterday's post on the Placecard of the Week.  As I mentioned yesterday, this past Saturday my husband and I hosted a lunch at our house for his family, specifically his mom's birthday.  We had such a nice time, and I had so much fun pulling together the table setting.  I made the placecards and the napkin holders, and my mom crafted about 90% of the beautiful centerpiece while I worked on the placecards and spray painted and glittered different pieces for the centerpiece. I decided to borrow some of my mom's pretty fall dishes, lime green and metallic chargers, and stemware to pull together a beautiful yet cozy table setting.  I think it turned out quite lovely.  What do you think?

Placecard of the Week: Birthday in Autumn

My mother-in-law Connie's birthday was last week, and my husband and I had the pleasure of hostessing a little family get-together at our home to celebrate.  We had tons of great food and just a nice, relaxing day with the family and, of course, the guest of honor!

Being that I love to set a lovely table setting whenever I have guests over (I'll post the rest of the table settings tomorrow), I decided to make placecards along with all sorts of other table decor to make my guests feel extra special.  I designed and handcrafted each of the placecards you see below all with the help of my talented and creative mom.  The adorable pumpkin placecard holders are from Target, and my mom was kind enough to let me borrow them for the day.

Once again, I would like to say Happy Birthday, Connie!  I hope you enjoyed your special day as much as all of us enjoyed spending it with you, and without further ado, I present the Placecard of the Week...

Living It Pink

I went through a serious pink phase back in college. 

Serious.

Not so much in decor, but most definitely in fashion.  I had an entire section of my closet dedicated to pink-wear.  Oh, how I looooooooved pink back then.  Secretly, I still do.  It's a shame, really, that I've wandered so far from this fun, girly color.  Nowadays, I work in an office...professional and all that jazz, and somehow the pink in my life has been limited to scarves, earrings, and fingernail polish - when I bother to put it on.  Even my home, as much as I adore the warm, rich colors I have now, lacks any evidence of pink.  So, for the love of all things pretty and pink, I think we all need a little dose of this happy, lovely of loveliest colors.  Welcome back.....pink!
